The Ministry of Finance will not allow the employees at RIK to remain unpaid, stated the Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos.
\nIn his remarks following the Cabinet meeting, Keravnos said, \u201cThe Boards of Directors and General Directorates of semi-governmental organisations should ensure, before making decisions, that their decisions are legally, economically, and ethically substantiated.\u201d
\n\u201cRegarding the issue of RIK, the Ministry of Finance has stated that we will not allow the employees to remain unpaid. The Ministry will act promptly to ensure they receive their salaries,\u201d he said.
\nIt is recalled that the trade unions of RIK, EYRIK OHO\u2013SEK, SYTYRIK OHO\u2013SEK, and SIDIKEK PEO-RIK had sent a letter on March 23, characterising it as unacceptable for a public-law organisation for the potential non-payment of March salaries to the institution\u2019s staff due to a delay in \u201csubmitting the RIK budget to the Parliament\u201d, which \u201cclearly burdens the employer\u2019s side\u201d.
\nFurthermore, the issue of paying March salaries to RIK staff is further complicated as the bank accounts of RIK have been frozen by a court decision in relation to the payment of compensations that have been awarded in a lawsuit against the Foundation.employees’ salaries.
