In response to the quadruple fatal collision in Limassol on New Year\u2019s Day, two stationary traffic cameras from Nicosia are being uprooted and moved to Limassol to fill gaps, caused by the decision to install two systems at the intersection where the incident occurred.
\nTo expedite installation, cameras earmarked for the junction of Spyrou Kyprianou and Ayias Filaxeos Streets in Limassol will be redeployed.
\nThis decision follows an observation by the Traffic Police that two existing cameras in Nicosia, although operational, do not optimally serve their purpose of enhancing road safety.
\nThe camera situated at the intersection of Makarios Avenue with Griva Digeni and Spyrou Kyprianou Streets in Nicosia intended to monitor driver violations, particularly for vehicles entering a restricted zone on Makarios Avenue, will be relocated.
\nThis move is deemed necessary as private vehicles no longer access this part of Makarios Avenue, rendering the camera\u2019s current position ineffective.
\nSimilarly, another camera located at the lights of Strovolos Avenue with Machera Street will be relocated.
