The Energy Regulatory Authority (CERA) has increased by 76% the Public Benefit Fee of the Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC) that consumers pay through their electricity consumption bill, the President of the Consumers' Association Marios Drousiotis told KYPE, who noted that this decision of CERA will be effective from January 2024.<\/p>\n
"This fee is paid by consumers to subsidize vulnerable groups," explained Mr. Drousiotis, who emphasized that the Association is not against subsidizing vulnerable groups, "but the fee was doubled and no hint was made by anyone."<\/p>\n
As he said, the fee was \u20ac0.00058\/kWh by a decision of CERA in May 2023 and effective in June of the same year, while with a new decision of December 8, 2023 the fee increases to \u20ac0.00102\/kWh with effective January 2024.<\/p>\n
According to CERA's decision, on the subject of "Revaluation for the Recovery of Public Benefit Obligation Expenses (PSO)", the members of its Senior Management decided to approve the revaluation for the recovery of PSO expenses (PSO) in \u20ac 0.00102\/kWh.<\/p>\n
Also, they decided to apply the revised D-YDO tariff from consumer invoices, from all Electricity Suppliers to end customers for monthly consumers, from electricity bills whose calculation will be done at the end of January 2024, and for bimonthly consumers, from electricity bills whose counting will start from January 1, 2024.<\/p>\n
