With market analysts increasingly pricing in the likelihood of a Donald Trump victory in the US presidential election in November, investors are eyeing three specific sectors expected to benefit from his administration\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n
\u201cA potential return to the White House brings with it expectations of a hawkish trade policy, less regulation, looser climate change regulations, and the extension of corporate and personal tax cuts,\u201d said Nigel Green, CEO of\u00a0deVere Group, a leading financial advisory and fintech, after Saturday\u2019s shooting at the former US President\u2019s election rally raised his odds of winning back the White House and betting on his victory will increase.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, should he win, there will be clear winners and losers for investors,\u201d the deVere founder said, citing three sectors poised to thrive under a new Trump administration.<\/p>\n
\u201cTrump\u2019s administration has historically prioritised energy independence and economic growth over environmental regulations.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis past actions, such as rolling back Obama-era climate policies and exiting the Paris Agreement, reflect a preference for less stringent environmental oversight.<\/p>\n
\u201cShould Trump win the presidency again, a similar approach is expected, which would benefit the energy sector, particularly fossil fuels,\u201d noted Green.<\/p>\n
\u201cLooser regulations would likely lower operational costs for energy companies, particularly those in the coal, oil, and natural gas industries.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlso, a Trump White House could push for increased domestic energy production, boosting the profitability of companies involved in extraction, production, and distribution.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition, Trump\u2019s focus on rebuilding America\u2019s infrastructure could lead to increased demand for energy, benefiting energy providers and related industries.\u201d<\/p>\n
The deVere CEO said that Trump\u2019s administration has historically favoured deregulation, aiming to reduce the regulatory burden on financial institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith less stringent regulations, banks and financial institutions can expect reduced compliance costs and increased profit margins.<\/p>\n
\u201cDeregulation could also facilitate increased lending activities, boosting the revenues of financial services companies.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe anticipation of a Republican victory has already started to boost market confidence in the financial sector, with investors expecting a more business-friendly environment.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTrump\u2019s flagship \u2018America First\u2019 policy has emphasised the importance of domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on foreign imports.<\/p>\n
\u201cA return to this policy is likely to include tariffs on foreign goods and incentives for American companies to bring manufacturing back to the US,\u201d said Nigel Green.<\/p>\n
Hawkish trade policies could protect domestic manufacturers from foreign competition, \u201callowing them to increase their market share and profitability\u201d, combined with \u201cincentives for companies to repatriate manufacturing jobs could boost employment and production within the US\u201d, positively impacting the manufacturing sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cExtension of corporate tax cuts would directly benefit manufacturers by reducing their tax liabilities and increasing available capital for investment and expansion.\u201d<\/p>\n
Green concluded that investors are already positioning themselves to capitalise on the expected policy shifts as markets begin to price in a Trump victory.<\/p>\n
