{"id":14739,"date":"2024-06-15T04:00:05","date_gmt":"2024-06-15T01:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=14739"},"modified":"2024-06-15T04:00:05","modified_gmt":"2024-06-15T01:00:05","slug":"in-ceo-meeting-trump-promised-more-tax-cuts-cnn-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=14739","title":{"rendered":"In CEO meeting, Trump promised more tax cuts | CNN Business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><cite class=\"source__cite\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"source__location\" data-editable=\"location\">New York<\/span><br \/>\n      <span class=\"source__text\" data-editable=\"source\">CNN<\/span><br \/>\n        \u00a0\u2014\u00a0<br \/>\n    <\/cite><\/p>\n<p>            Former President Donald Trump told some of America\u2019s most powerful business leaders this week that he plans to once against slash corporate taxes, four people familiar with the matter told CNN.<\/p>\n<p>            During his meeting on Thursday with CEOs in Washington, Trump told the executives he wants to cut the corporate tax rate to 20%, down from 21% currently, the sources said.<\/p>\n<p>            Trump met privately with roughly 100 corporate leaders, including JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Walmart CEO Doug McMillon, according to one of the people familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n<p>            Trump has\u00a0previously said\u00a0that one of his core issues for a second term would be extending the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, one of his signature achievements in office.<\/p>\n<p>            Those tax cuts, widely criticized by Democrats, are set to expire at the end of 2025 and extending them could cost $4.6 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office.<\/p>\n<p>            An even deeper cut to the corporate rate could add to the cost.<\/p>\n<p>            Trump, meeting with CEOs at the powerful Business Roundtable lobbying group, said he wants to lower the rate to 20% because it\u2019s a round number and would boost jobs by making the United States more competitive on the global stage, the person familiar with the matter told CNN.<\/p>\n<p>            Trump said he wants to make all of the tax cuts enacted in 2017 permanent and also discussed with the CEOs the border, inflation and energy \u2014 including the need for more oil production, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>            A Trump campaign official confirmed to CNN that Trump said he\u2019d like to make all of the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent and lower the corporate rate to 20%.<\/p>\n<p>            Trump\u2019s comments on tax cuts were previously reported by\u00a0the New York Times\u00a0and other outlets.<\/p>\n<p>  This story has been updated with additional reporting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New York CNN \u00a0\u2014\u00a0 Former President Donald Trump told some of America\u2019s most powerful business leaders this week that he plans to once against slash corporate taxes, four people familiar with the matter told CNN.
