{"id":13570,"date":"2024-05-29T16:00:32","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T13:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=13570"},"modified":"2024-05-29T16:00:32","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T13:00:32","slug":"euthanising-healthy-donkeys-in-north-out-of-the-question","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=13570","title":{"rendered":"Euthanising healthy donkeys in north , \u2018out of the question\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/euthanising-healthy-donkeys-in-north-out-of-the-question.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>The idea of euthanising healthy donkeys is \u201cabsolutely out of the question\u201d<\/strong>, Tashkent nature park director Kemal Basat said on Wednesday.He was responding to a report in Turkish newspaper Sozcu which bore the headline \u201clet\u2019s put the donkeys to sleep\u201d and claimed that a debate regarding the potential euthanasia of donkeys in Karpasia had developed in Cyprus and \u201cdivided the country in two\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Basat is one of the stakeholders involved in the \u201cKarpasia donkeys management plan cooperation protocol\u201d and said that in the drawing up of the protocol, <strong>\u201cnot a single word was said by a single stakeholder\u201d about euthanising the donkeys<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a signed protocol, and the nature park is executing that protocol,\u201d he said, adding that the nature park is an \u201cexpert professional organisation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He was also keen to point out that the mukhtars interviewed Sozcu, \u201cwhile expressing their grievances, did not demand that the animals be euthanised\u201d, and that the article in question did not state who had called for the donkeys to be euthanised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems that the article\u2019s author used their imagination to first create the headline, and then did not feel the need to go back and check whether the content of the article and the headline matched,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He therefore urged the public to \u201cn<strong>ot trust this type of superficial, unfounded, and artificial news<\/strong> which serves no purpose other than creating an agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Karpasia environmental protection and social activity association chairman Firat Borak had said the article had been published with the aim of influencing public opinion in Turkey in favour of euthanising stray dogs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Donkeys in the Karpas are being used as proxies to cover these people\u2019s sins<\/strong> and crimes against humanity,\u201d he told news website Kibris Postasi.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding progress on the protocol, Basat said on Wednesday a research station has been established in Karpasia with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (Tika), and that work to devise the forthcoming \u201cdonkey management plan\u201d is ongoing between the various stakeholders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The idea of euthanizing healthy donkeys in Karpasia, Cyprus is &#8220;absolutely out of the question,&#8221; according to Tashkent nature park director Kemal Basat.
