{"id":13534,"date":"2024-05-29T12:00:43","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T09:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=13534"},"modified":"2024-05-29T12:00:43","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T09:00:43","slug":"big-guns-swiatek-and-osaka-meet-in-early-showdown-order-of-play","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=13534","title":{"rendered":"Big guns Swiatek and Osaka meet in early showdown (order of play)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/big-guns-swiatek-and-osaka-meet-in-early-showdown-order-of-play.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Defending French Open champion Iga Swiatek will take on Naomi Osaka in a blockbuster second-round contest between the two most successful women in the Roland Garros draw, renewing a rivalry split down the middle after two years on Wednesday.Swiatek heads into the clash against her fellow four-times Grand Slam champion in the form of her life on clay, having captured titles in Madrid and Rome as she bids to lift the Suzanne Lenglen Cup for a fourth time.<\/p>\n<p>In her third meeting with Osaka and first on the sport\u2019s slowest surface, the 22-year-old Pole will target a victory that would give her an edge in their head-to-head record.<\/p>\n<p>Osaka arrives under vastly different circumstances, having returned to the tour at the start of the season following a long maternity break, but she showed flashes of top form during her tough opening Roland Garros win over Lucia Bronzetti.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReally impressed,\u201d Swiatek said of the 26-year-old Osaka\u2019s comeback after 15 months away from the sport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s a great person and her game style is pretty fun to watch. I\u2019m glad she came back and she\u2019s playing more tournaments even than before the break.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t actually played against Naomi obviously on clay, so we\u2019ll see how that\u2019s going to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Osaka was excited by the challenge, having dedicated herself to improving her game on a surface where success has eluded her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI watched her a lot when I was pregnant. It\u2019s an honour to play her in the French Open because she has won more than once here. It\u2019s a very big challenge for me,\u201d Osaka said.<\/p>\n<p>The former world number one added that the contest was an acid test in her comeback.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a test to see where I\u2019m at but I wouldn\u2019t say I have low expectations of myself. I\u2019m a person that thinks that I can win every match that I play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s gotten me this far.
