class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Prices of homes being put up for sale in Britain have hit record highs despite still expensive mortgage costs, but the pace of gains has slowed, according to data from property website Rightmove.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1438801937\">\n<div id=\"cypru-383611227\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-9745811277998-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The average asking price for residential properties touched 375,131 pounds ($474,578.23) in the four weeks to mid-May, Rightmove said.<br \/>\nHowever, the 0.8 per cent increase in month-on-month terms represented the weakest rise so far in 2024.<br \/>\nPrices were only 0.6 per cent higher when compared with the same period last year.<br \/>\nBritain\u2019s housing market slowed last year as higher borrowing costs weighed on the market but it has shown signs of picking up in recent months as falling inflation boosts household incomes and raises the prospect of interest rate cuts.<br \/>\nTim Bannister, Rightmove\u2019s director of property science, said the momentum of the spring selling season was not a sign of a return to strong demand.<br \/>\n\u201cThe market remains price-sensitive, and with prices reaching new records in the majority of regions and mortgage rates remaining elevated, affordability for many home-buyers is still stretched,\u201d Bannister said.<br \/>\nRightmove said asking prices rose by the most \u2013 up 1.3 per cent in annual terms
