{"id":12317,"date":"2024-05-18T20:00:19","date_gmt":"2024-05-18T17:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=12317"},"modified":"2024-05-18T20:00:19","modified_gmt":"2024-05-18T17:00:19","slug":"christodoulides-to-meet-chinese-ambassador-over-vasiliko-row","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=12317","title":{"rendered":"Christodoulides to meet Chinese ambassador over Vasiliko row"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/christodoulides-to-meet-chinese-ambassador-over-vasiliko-row.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>President Nikos Christodoulides will meet with Chinese ambassador Liu Yantao<\/strong> on Monday to discuss the ongoing and escalating spat between Chinese-led construction firm CPP-Metron Consortium Ltd (CMC) and Natural Gas Infrastructure Company (Etyfa) over the under-construction liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Vasiliko.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1580525155\">\n<div id=\"cypru-1763942688\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-7984918823312-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhile there has been progress on some fronts, some areas are not progressing as we would like them to progress,\u201d he said on Saturday.<br \/>\nHe said the overreaching aim is to reduce the price of electricity and that was closely linked to the progress at Vasilikos and the work undertaken by CMC company with specific commitments.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are here to deal with any problems. I am not going to enter into a public dialogue with the company and I have to say I am surprised the company felt the need to make a public intervention,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nCMC made a series of outspoken statements on Friday and Saturday on the increasingly fractious dispute with Etyfa.<br \/>\n\u201cT<strong>he state will not be blackmailed, the state is faithful to its obligations<\/strong>, and we always respond, and we are here in this matter as well to deal with it,\u201d Christodoulides said.<br \/>\nHe went on to say that regarding the Vasiliko project, \u201cwe have a plan which needs to be implemented.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cWith absolute good faith and will, we will manage the problems which have come up and I hope that with good will and initiative on the other side, solutions will be found,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nAsked whether the government has a \u201cplan B\u201d, he said, \u201c<strong>of course there is a \u2018plan B\u2019<\/strong>.
