Tuesday demanded the immediate publication of the final findings of an administrative investigation into <strong>illegal interventions in Akamas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-153714569\">\n<div id=\"cypru-1514524619\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-2791564396977-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The government has yet to hand over the investigation to Auditor-General Odysseas Michaelides, though the former agriculture minister conceded the works on Akamas were not properly done, with\u00a0various irregularities identified.<br \/>\nTerra Cypria, BirdLife Cyprus, the Cyprus Wildlife Society and the Natural Coastline Initiative<strong> called for the results of the investigation to be made immediately available<\/strong>, specifically for the roads Aspros Potamos \u2013 Toxeftra \u2013 Lara, Circular Lara and Toxeftra \u2013 Avakas \u2013 Lipati.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Ministry of Agriculture should finally proceed to admit the violation of [\u2026] legally binding, essential and special conditions of the environmental approval [\u2026] during the implementation of Phase A\u2019 [construction] for the improvement of the main road network,\u201d the environmental groups said.<br \/>\nAny <strong>responsibilities should be sought and assigned<\/strong>, where and where they exist, the groups added.<br \/>\n\u201cThe attribution of responsibility for the serious mistakes made and [for] significant deviations [is] imperative to prevent similar [\u2026] violations in future, as well as to defend [institution of] a special ecological assessment (SEA) for projects [within] the Natura 2000 Network,\u201d the environmentalists said.<br \/>\nThe group called for the findings to be brought before the parliamentary environment committee and <strong>submitted to the audit service<\/strong>, which had assigned it ex officio to carry out an independent review.<br \/>\n\u201cFundamental principles of transparency and accountability should govern the actions of all,\u201d the organisations, who are members of the expert ad hoc environment committee stated.<br \/>\nAccording to Michaelides, in earlier statements, the controversy centres on <strong>a deal signed by the forestry department<\/strong> with the specific contractor which raises a raft of questions.<br \/>\nAgriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou had pledged last month that the works would resume on April 2
