{"id":11170,"date":"2024-05-09T15:00:09","date_gmt":"2024-05-09T12:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=11170"},"modified":"2024-05-09T15:00:09","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T12:00:09","slug":"cyprus-shipping-registry-grows-by-5-5-per-cent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=11170","title":{"rendered":"Cyprus shipping registry grows by 5.5 per cent"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/cyprus-shipping-registry-grows-by-5-5-per-cent.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>The Great Britain-Cyprus Business Association\u2019s International Investment Conference 2024 kicked off in Limassol today, with the aim of enhancing business networking between the two countries.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1517569777\">\n<div id=\"cypru-536003662\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-2868124843600-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>During the event, which will conclude on Friday, the Deputy Minister of Shipping emphasised the Cyprus Maritime Administration\u2019s renewed commitment to sustaining support for the shipping industry.<br \/>\nDeputy Minister Hadjimanoli acknowledged the challenges currently facing the shipping industry but remained optimistic about the sector\u2019s future.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are confident that the steps taken to enhance competitiveness and promote shipping will contribute to our vision of growing our maritime cluster both in size and range of activities and pave the way for a future defined by prosperity, opportunity and lasting success,\u201d she said.<br \/>\nHadjimanoli also emphasised the strong diplomatic and economic ties between Cyprus and the United Kingdom, recalling the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the maritime sector.<br \/>\n\u201cEvents like this,\u201d she noted, \u201ccreate an even stronger bond between our two countries.\u201d<br \/>\nShe further highlighted Cyprus\u2019 historical significance as a maritime hub, saying, \u201cThe history of shipping goes back many centuries. The strategic geographical location of the island of Cyprus, at the crossroads of three continents, has played a crucial role in the development of Cyprus as a major maritime centre.\u201d<br \/>\nShe pointed out that the establishment of the Deputy Ministry of Shipping in 2018 marked a significant new chapter for the sector, highlighting Cyprus\u2019 commitment to the maritime industry.<br \/>\nNotably, Cyprus has seen a 5.5 per cent increase in ships registered under its flag in recent months.<br \/>\nHadjimanoli said \u201cCyprus is a modern, efficient, and integrated maritime transport complex and is also ranked among the world leaders.<br \/>\nAs a third-party ship management centre, it is the largest in Europe and among the top three in the world\u201d, while also pointing out the diverse investment opportunities available in Cyprus.<br \/>\nDeputy High Commissioner of the UK in Cyprus, Ben Rowlings also spoke at the conference, focusing on the challenges posed by geopolitical instability, economic crises, and the rise of Artificial Intelligence.<br \/>\nHe emphasised the UK\u2019s position as a global economic leader, saying that \u201cour focus is on investment as it is a top driver of growth.\u201d<br \/>\nRowlings commended Cyprus for its resilience, stating, \u201cCyprus has proven that it can overcome problems and emerge as a leader in many areas.\u201d<br \/>\nHe outlined Cyprus\u2019 strategic objectives to attract investments in finance, shipping, and technology, noting that \u201cby offering an attractive environment for businesses and workers, Cyprus is responding to the expectations and modern needs of the world.\u201d<br \/>\nSavvas Kyriakides, the founder and President of the Great Britain-Cyprus Business Association, rounded off with a focus on the growing cooperation between Cyprus and the UK, especially in investment and business networking.<br \/>\nHe highlighted that this year\u2019s conference places a spotlight on promoting real estate and other attractive investment opportunities in both countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Great Britain-Cyprus Business Association&#8217;s International Investment Conference 2024 in Limassol aims to enhance business networking between the two countries.
