{"id":10968,"date":"2024-05-07T20:00:28","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T17:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=10968"},"modified":"2024-05-07T20:00:28","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T17:00:28","slug":"supermarkets-thrive-during-holy-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=10968","title":{"rendered":"Supermarkets thrive during Holy Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/supermarkets-thrive-during-holy-week.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Supermarkets experienced increased activity during the final days of Holy Week in Cyprus, with consumers mainly focusing on buying food and Easter table essentials, according to the head of the small shopkeepers\u2019 association (Povek) Stefanos Koursaris, who added, however, that shopping for clothing and footwear remained limited.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1784369429\">\n<div id=\"cypru-495422952\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-5236422498667-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) on Tuesday, Koursaris explained that economic constraints led consumers to prioritise essential items over what he called \u201csmall luxuries\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cConsequently, supermarket activity remained at similar levels compared to last year\u2019s Easter period,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nKoursaris\u2019 statements were echoed by Povek\u2019s general secretary Andreas Hadjiadamos, who also said he expected increased activity in supermarkets \u201cdespite the current economic challenging times.\u201d<br \/>\nHadjiadamos, however, attributed the consumers\u2019 behaviour to the many items on offer across supermarkets in Cyprus during the Easter period.<br \/>\n\u201cSupermarkets constantly analyse consumer response patterns to adjust prices in a manner that facilitates access to essential goods,\u201d he said. \u201cTherefore, there was satisfactory activity across supermarkets of all sizes.\u201d<br \/>\nHe further highlighted a trend of stable consumer response during festive periods in recent years, contrasting with previous declining trends, which he attributed to \u201cwrong strategies implemented by supermarkets.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cConsumers now tend to explore the market and take advantage of each supermarket\u2019s offers to procure quantities and items that suit them best.<br \/>\n\u201cEvery year, there is a change in consumer behaviour and supermarkets ensure they adapt to these changes on order to meet consumer demands,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nRegarding the period after the holidays, he predicted that limited activity is expected, \u201cwhich will again prompt supermarkets to come up with other strategies and promote other goods.\u201d<br \/>\nHowever, although there was increased consumer activity in supermarkets, retail trade experienced a downward trend, according to Koursaris.<br \/>\n\u201cIn past years, it was customary for people to purchase clothing, footwear, and gifts during Easter.
