{"id":10594,"date":"2024-05-03T18:01:09","date_gmt":"2024-05-03T15:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=10594"},"modified":"2024-05-03T18:01:09","modified_gmt":"2024-05-03T15:01:09","slug":"north-should-drive-on-the-right","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=10594","title":{"rendered":"North , \u2018should drive on the right\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/north-should-drive-on-the-right.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Cars in the north should drive on the right hand side of the road<\/strong>, the north\u2019s \u2018parliament speaker\u2019 Zorlu Tore said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-569270345\">\n<div id=\"cypru-390157967\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-5650197301851-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking on Turkish television, Tore said tourists travelling to the north struggle to deal with driving as traffic flows in the opposite direction to most countries.<br \/>\n\u201cThis British law should be changed, traffic should drive on the right hand side,\u201d he said, adding that the north\u2019s authorities \u201cmust start working on this\u201d.<br \/>\nPointing out that cars in Turkey drive on the right hand side, he added that, \u201cI want to integrate with Turkey in every aspect.\u201d<br \/>\nTore\u2019s intervention drew ridicule from opposition party CTP leader Tufan Erhurman, who wrote on social media, \u201cshould traffic flow on the right or the left in our country? We have started to <strong>see the benefits of the intense foreign contacts of our statesmen!<\/strong>\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cThe most serious problems our country faces are being brought to the agenda. Solution proposals are being developed. What more could we possibly want?\u201d he asked.<br \/>\nCyprus is one of 76 countries and territories around the world in which cars drive on the left hand side of the road, compared to 163 in which cars drive on the right hand side.<br \/>\nAdditionally, Cyprus is one of just three European Union member states in which cars drive on the left, the other two being Malta and the Republic of Ireland.<br \/>\nThe island\u2019s left-hand traffic is <strong>a remnant of its former status as a colony of the British Empire<\/strong>.<br \/>\nDuring the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century, a number of countries switched to right-hand traffic so as to easier facilitate transport and trade with the growing majority of countries across the world. Yemen was the most recent country to do so, switching to right-hand traffic in 1977.<br \/>\nHowever, the only country to switch its direction of traffic this century is Samoa, which switched to left-hand traffic in 2009 to be able to import cheaper cars from Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cars in the north should drive on the right
