The complaints about the conflict of interest of the Assistant Attorney General only cast shadows on the institution that was appointed as the guardian of the rule of law.<\/p>\n
The conclusion of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority, regardless of criminal liability, has again brought to the fore the enormous dysfunctions faced by the institution of the General Prosecutor's Office.<\/p>\n
On the one hand, the dysfunction resulting from the conflict of interest of the Attorney General's role as Public Prosecutor and his role as Legal Adviser of the State and on the other hand, the dysfunction of the maximum conflict of interest from the appointment of the Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General. Two former Ministers of a government, which has recorded more scandals than any other previous administration and who are now called upon to evaluate them themselves and send them to justice.<\/p>\n
Therefore, one does not need to have special knowledge in legal science, nor to look for evidence in reports and findings, to realize that the most basic institution of the third power in our country is underfunctioning. And there don't seem to be any magic solutions, just one. As legal professionals, both the Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General must recognize that these dysfunctions are crippling the institution of the Attorney General. Having said that, as a sign of minimal respect for the institution they serve, they must submit their resignation immediately, leaving no shadow of the crucial decisions that will be made from here on out.<\/p>\n
