"We are in discussions with the Commission for green ships" said Chr. Stavlianidis, Minister of Shipping of Greece
A recent Cooperation Memorandum (MoU) worth 1 billion euros between ONEX SA and ATTICA GROUP is creating new opportunities in the coastal shipping market. The MoU allows for the exclusive maintenance, repair, and environmental upgrade of Attica Group's existing fleet, as well as the construction of new modern ships. The average age of Greek coastal vessels is 28 years, and the renewal of the fleet is a significant challenge for the industry. The Greek government is also in negotiations with the European Commission on building "green" ships. The revitalization of the shipbuilding industry is seen as a national asset that should be supported and invested in.
