21-year-old re-arrested in connection with attempted murder case

Today, the 21-year-old individual who had previously been placed under an eight-day detention in connection with the investigated attempted murder case of a 36-year-old was brought before the Paphos Provincial Court once again.
The arrest of the young man was based on witness testimonies obtained by the Police, as well as evidence discovered at the scene of the incident. The suspect was placed in custody to facilitate further investigations.
The case, being examined by the Police as an attempted murder, unfolded late on Tuesday, December 19. A 36-year-old was transported to Paphos General Hospital with injuries from a sharp object to the left hand and armpit by unknown individuals who hastily left the scene.
Upon determining that the victim had fallen victim to a stabbing, medical professionals performed surgery and subsequently kept him under medical care. His condition is currently described as stable.
Authorities were notified of the incident, and members of the Paphos Crime Investigation Department visited the hospital, initiating inquiries into the events that led to the 36-year-old’s injury.
From the outset, authorities believed that a confrontation took place at the location where the attack occurred, and those involved or present transported the victim to the hospital after the injury.
Based on evidence gathered during the investigations, the 21-year-old was arrested, and examinations are ongoing.
