High tension in Thanasis Nikolaou death inquiry

The process of the death inquiry of Thanasis Nikolaou continues in high tones, with the representative of the Legal Service, Xenia Xenofontos, examining the forensic pathologist Dimitra Karagianni, who examined the fetal bone.It is reminded that the lawyers of the Nikolaou family, before the start of the procedure, reported that a person informed the Police that a specific individual confessed that they, along with others, beat and killed Thanasis.Ms. Xenofontos asked the witness if she was a technical advisor of the family (if she needed to get in touch with the family), with Ms. Karagianni stating that she was appointed through a specific procedure by the Athens Prosecutor’s Office. “We are not paid by the family. We are paid by the Prosecutor’s Office,” she noted. She was then asked about a fee of 22 euros, with Ms. Xenofontos suggesting that she was not appointed as a technical advisor of the family. At this point, there was disagreement regarding the amount received as a fee from the Republic of Cyprus by Ms. Karagianni. She was then asked if she had received a sum of 9,000 euros, with her explaining that “the six thousand were for the first examination and the three for the second. The 22 euros were for Greece,” said Ms. Karagianni.Ms. Xenofontos told Ms. Karagianni that she copied the report of the forensic pathologist, Emmanuel Agapitos, and changed only one point. Tension arose at this point from the side of the family, and the judge intervened. “My colleague (Agapitos) repeated that we were all together to conduct the examination, we were writing observations. There is agreement due to the notes. And I was given handwritten paper with these and used them for the report,” noted. At another point, indicated by Ms. Xenofontos to the witness, she mentioned that the fetal bone of Thanasis Nikolaou was inherently different, with Ms. Karagianni rejecting something, noting that neither her colleague, Mr. Agapitos, mentioned anything like that in his report.Tension arose at this point, with Mrs. Andriana Nikolaou intervening in Court and saying that her child had no problem. There was intervention also from the Judge who stated that she would interrupt the procedure if it continued in such tones.“I do not accept the term genetic abnormality. I invoke the evidence of the anatomy handbook. I show the point of deficiency and the point of tissue injury. I exclude the defect to be congenital,” Ms. Karagianni responded.Regarding the exhumation, Ms. Xenofontos asked the witness if there was a large amount of soil with which Thanasis’s body was covered. Ms. Karagianni mentioned that she was not present during the exhumation process and cannot answer. From the side of the lawyers, it was stated that the procedure has become a mockery. The judge intervened again, calling Ms. Xenofontos to focus on substantive questions.
