Farmers from different regions of Cyprus will be outside the House of Europe in Nicosia, handing out a resolution addressed to the European Commission and handing out fruit to passing drivers

Farmers are taking to the streets with their tractors today, protesting "the EU's wrong policies in the common agricultural policy". They will end up at the House of Europe where they will present a resolution. The Police have planned a series of traffic arrangements for the march.

In the meantime, the farmers of the Paphos district are expected to gather at the Konia roundabout at 10:00.

According to a joint announcement by the agricultural organizations PEK – EKA – Panagrotikos – New Agricultural Movement – Euroagrotikos, the farmers' march will stop at the House of Europe, where a resolution addressed to the European Commission will be delivered, with the farmers calling on consumers to march together them "because it is a matter that concerns all consumers and every household".

It is added that "the situation has gotten out of hand, production costs are unreal, green taxation is imposed on water, land, animals, trees, plants, seeds and generally throughout the food chain", while it is also stated that "freight rates and export costs in general are rising, at the same time as imports from Ukraine and other third countries are rampant."

At the same time, the announcement concludes, "the EU is proceeding with a trade agreement with Latin American countries for the import of agricultural products that do not meet European quality standards, itself promoting unfair competition."

In addition, the Police announced that they will make traffic arrangements in view of the demonstration by the agricultural organizations.

As reported, at 10 a.m. the participants in the protest, who will arrive at the site of the GSP from various regions of Cyprus, will start a march with tractors and other vehicles, to the House of Europe on Lord Byronos Avenue in Nicosia, while it is added that there will be a few minutes of interruptions along the way on the roads they will move.

It is added that due to the event, Lord Byronos Avenue will be closed to traffic from the traffic lights of Griva Digeni Avenue (Bridge House) to the traffic lights at the height of the Greek Embassy, until the end of the event.

Throughout the duration of the event, traffic facilities will be provided by members of the Police and drivers are asked to comply with the instructions of the members on duty, the announcement concludes.
