"The human-centered government policy brings tangible results that gradually improve the daily life of thousands of citizens, addressing problems and correcting distortions, with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens", according to the Minister of Labor
The implementation of the government's plan for early payment of the statutory pension for new pensioners within one month of reaching their retirement age or the date they wish to receive their pension has been completed, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance.
Specifically, in its announcement, the Ministry states that the timely payment of the first payment for the statutory pension began to be implemented when the pensions were paid in September 2023 and ends with the payment of the pensions in January 2024, positively affecting more than 6,000 new pensioners on an annual basis and putting a definitive end to the many-month delays of the past.
The acceleration of the payment of all benefits and allowances paid by the Social Insurance Services is a political priority of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance in the context of the implementation of the Governance Program and is implemented progressively with specific results, the Ministry states in its announcement.
The Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Yiannis Panagiotou stated that the choice of the statutory pension as the first benefit that is now paid on time to all beneficiaries is indicative of the minimum appreciation that the state must show towards the workers who were consistent in their obligations by paying the their contributions to the Social Insurance Fund and expect that during their transition from work to retirement the state will do the obvious, responding to its own obligations on time.
"People-centered government policy brings about tangible results that gradually improve the daily lives of thousands of citizens, addressing problems and correcting distortions, with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens," he noted.
