The Archbishop Makarios III Foundation and the Foundation's Byzantine Museum are co-organizing, in collaboration with the Open University of Cyprus, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 10.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., an event entitled: "The mosaics of Kanakaria and their repatriation". As part of the event, other digital games and results of the Pact4Skills project will be presented.
The Archbishop Makarios III Foundation and the Byzantine Museum express their satisfaction that one of the deliverables of the Erasmus+ Pact4Skills Program is the digital game "The mosaics of Kanakaria and their repatriation", presented this year, during the sad fiftieth anniversary of the Turkish invasion.
The event will take place in the Ceremony Hall of the Foundation and the possibility of remote monitoring is offered through the Zoom platform: https://zoom.us/j/91000652144 .
The game is written in Greek and English by the Assistant Professor at the Department of Geoinformatics and Topography of the International University of Greece Dr. Stella Sylaiou, based on relevant informational material provided by the Museum for the creation of the ten characters who are looking for the looted cultural heritage of our country. The English title of the game is: "Bring the treasures home. Repatriating looted mosaics to Cyprus" and refers to the similar campaign for the return of the Parthenon sculptures.
Players can identify with the following characters: 1. Director of the Department of Antiquities, 2. Prosecutor, 3. Police Director of Antiquities, 4. Interpol Police, 5. Unesco Representative, 6. Byzantine Museum Director, 7. Art Detective of treasures, 8. Informant, 9. Archaeologist/active citizen, 10. Director of a cultural Agency.
