Written statement of the former president of DISY, member of parliament, Averof Neophytou: "The big, the small and the micro-megalism!".
"When the personal envoy of G.G. of the United Nations is in Nicosia, for the probably last chance to solve the Cyprus issue, our National issue should be at the top of the political agenda: all our forces should be oriented towards trying to get out of the quagmire and take advantage of a situation which may never occur again", says the former president of DISY and member of parliament Averof Neophytou in a written statement.
"Instead," he adds, "political power is showing micro-megalomania, with imaginary 'SOTU' speeches and expositions of ideas for 'Cyprus 2035'." In order for Cyprus to exist in 2035, we must get rid of the occupation through the resolution of the Cyprus issue. This, 50 years after the invasion, we still don't seem to understand."
"At the same time", he continues, "in our party, invoking unity, they put as flag bearers those who torpedoed unity and undermined the faction".
"Let's stop," he adds, "before it's too late, to revolve around the small and let's focus on the big, on those that will decide the future of our country. The margins are narrowing nightmarishly."
"Without a homeland", he concludes, "there can be neither visions for 2035, nor factions to claim rights".
