Kasoulidis for DISY: "Let's support the new leadership, the united faction must move forward"

Written statement of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and historical figure of DISY Ioannis Kasoulidis.

"We democratically highlighted the new leadership of the DISY and we must support it and support it", says former Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulidis in a written statement in relation to the intra-party reactions caused in recent days on the occasion of the candidacy of Kostakis Constantinou for the presidency of the Provincial Organization of Self-Government of Paphos.

This is the announcement of Ioannis Kasoulidis:

It is a fact that during the last presidential election defection created a great trauma and led to our defeat. But DISY was founded to cover the largest part of the center-right in Cyprus, and is based on its founding Declaration of Principles which are still relevant today. DISY is intended to remain and continue its historical course. The polls next June are for us the challenge to prove that we are returning back to its former glory. It is a bet for its current leadership, its members and its supporters.

We have democratically elected his new leadership and we must support and support it. He took over by accepting the pre-existing decisions after a Pan-Cypriot electoral convention and a Pan-Cypriot Congress mediated. It is not up to the current leadership to reverse these decisions. Decisions that want to restore calm to the party and leave the traumas of the recent past as a sad memory.

Party members must accept the rules established by the collective bodies. We cannot operate without rules. One of these rules defines when the members themselves are called upon to make their decisions by secret ballot. It is the right of each voter to determine his own criteria, which may include the candidates' consistency in party loyalty, their contribution and their struggles.

Finally, the supporters, the voters will certainly be invited to the ballot box of the state to decide based on the criteria that they themselves in their wisdom will weigh. They will be the final judges.

The Faction united, must move forward.
