"Artists in Process: Again" at Stegi Chorus Nicosia

"Dance Gate Lefkosia-Cyprus" in collaboration with the Nicosia Dance House are organizing the final presentation of the hosting program "Artists in Process: Again". In it, four artists were invited who collaborated with the choreographer Mary Nunan. These are Ioli Kaskanis, Elisavet Panagiotou, Anthi Kettirou and Georgia Constantinou Clark who will show the results and findings of their work that emerged through their five-month artistic research, as well as through individual and group meetings with the mentor choreographer Nunan. In particular, Ioli Kaskani will present the performance "take the fall" in which she explores the concepts of empty and full body, fall and tension, as she explores our present self. Elisavet Panagiotou's research revolves around the axis of experiences of doubt. In particular, her performance, "attachments", deals with the concepts of the visible and the invisible, the sense of hurt and touch, the experience of seeking and acceptance. Anthi Kettirou invites the audience to "Strides", which is a deep and committed journey through the female existence, traversing the complex paths shaped by social expectations and norms. An installation where the destiny of women's march is analyzed through the synchronization of various media. And finally, Georgia Constantinou Clark experiments with the choreographic installation "What's on your mind?". Influenced by questions like "What am I thinking?" and "Do you think about things all the time or do they just happen?" it creates a world of exploration and reflection.

"The visit of the old lady" on the THOK Central Stage

Neofytos Taliotis returned to THOK to share with the audience his own reading of this great, timeless work, presented for the second time on the state stage, after the iconic performance of 1988. It is a black comedy that ranks among the best works written in the 20th century and deals with the power of money and social corruption. The play takes place in a small town, Gülen, somewhere in Central Europe, where Claire Zahanasian arrives. She herself returns to her birthplace after forty-five years of absence and creates a great commotion, since the inhabitants see her as their only savior. Thus, the once prosperous town is now plunged into destitution by the wealthy Claire, who promises to offer them unlimited wealth, on one condition only: the murder, by some member of the community, of Alfred Ill, her former lover, who refused her and left her with a child. The challenge compels an entire community to choose between morality and profit. The production includes stage designer Aggelos Aggelis, composer Michalis Christodoulidis as well as a brilliant cast of actors, with Annita Santoriniou and Stavros Loura in the two central roles.

"The monster is coming" to THOK Warehouses

"The Monster Comes" is a play based on the young adult novel of the same name by the American author Patrick Ness, which was published in 2011. It was adapted for the theater eleven years later for the "Old Vic Theatre" by the creators Sally Cookson and Adam Peck, in creative partnership with the troupe. On the theater stage of Cyprus, Irini Andreou and Yiannis Karaoulis implement a stage project that negotiates the transition from reality to fantasy. The creative team and the actors attempt to give voice to the young hero's mental landscape, where fear, anger, sadness, isolation, but also closeness, understanding, recognition reside. A work that combines simplicity with depth, pain with optimism. A story that poses key, compelling questions, both from the perspective of a teenager and that of an adult, which are connected to important stages of a person's life.

Uncomfortable Poses' at 125 Space

125 Space presents, for the first time in Cyprus, the Polish artist Michael Slusakowicz, in a solo exhibition of the artist, which is entitled "Uncomfortable Poses". Slusakowicz creates scenes that are often inspired and taken from real-life settings, yet rearranged in such a way that they border on dreamscapes. The paintings combine a dramatic, intense color palette with a hyperrealistic approach, like a collage of multiple pieces of time. His work captures feelings of uncertainty by using introspective figures, distorted colors and particular objects, which draw attention to the psychological burdens that many of the issues of the modern age cause. His figures permeate space and time and seem to be caught between two worlds – the conscious and the unconscious.
