Inflation in Cyprus fell to 1.9% in December, according to Eurostat

The lowest annual rates among Member States were recorded in Denmark (0.4%), and in Italy and Belgium (0.5% in both countries).

Annual inflation in Cyprus stood at 1.9% in December 2023, up from 2.4% in November, while a year earlier, in December 2022, it stood at 7.6%, according to the latest figures published by Eurostat , the statistical office of the European Union.

In the eurozone, annual inflation stood at 2.9% in December, up from 2.4% in November. In December 2022, the figure stood at 9.2%.

In the EU, annual inflation stood at 3.4% in December 2023, up from 3.1% in November. A year earlier, the inflation rate was 10.4%.

The lowest annual rates among Member States were recorded in Denmark (0.4%), and in Italy and Belgium (0.5% in both countries).

The highest annual rates were recorded in the Czech Republic (7.6%), Romania (7.0%) and Slovakia (6.6%).

Compared to November, annual inflation decreased in fifteen Member States (including Cyprus), remained stable in one and increased in eleven.

In December, the biggest contributor to the annual eurozone inflation rate was services (+1.74 percentage points, pp), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (+1.21 pp), non-energy industrial goods (+0.66 pm) and energy (-0.68 pm).
