Government reshuffle: Neither involvement nor discontent, declare Nikolas and Sizopoulos

Appointments are the exclusive prerogative of the President, emphasize the presidents of DIKO and EDEK

Nikolas Papadopoulos and Marinos Sizopoulos were asked today about the reshuffle of the government, for both of them to state that this is the exclusive prerogative of the President of the Republic.

The president of DIKO spoke about important challenges facing society and facing the ministers, who must in every way implement the government program in the best possible way.

DIKO, he said, as one of the parties supporting the Government, will contribute in a constructive way to help them in this difficult task.

Asked if the consultation with the PtD concerned the executives of DIKO or more broadly, Mr. Papadopoulos replied that the appointments made were the exclusive privilege and decision of the PtD. From the beginning, he said, DIKO submitted its own opinions and suggestions on how the Government can function better. The Ministers will be judged by their work, we wish them every success, concluded the President of DIKO.

Mr. Sizopoulos said that he too was informed of the reorganization in the morning.

From there, he said, it is a matter for the President of the Republic, depending on the plans he has made and the priorities he will give in view of the promotion of the implementation of the government project, to proceed with the specific political decisions that may also involve a reshuffle of the Cabinet Council.

The president of EDEK said that "there was no involvement in the restructuring" nor was there any dissatisfaction with this fact. As Mr. Sizopoulos said, "we maintained this attitude even when EDEK was an opposition party, much more so today when EDEK supported the election of Nikos Christodoulidis to the Presidency of the Republic".

He reiterated that "from the side of EDEK, we will be positive and constructive and we will support the work of the Ministers with specific proposals so that we can implement the government project in the best possible way".

As Mr. Sizopoulos said, "we maintained this attitude even when EDEK was an opposition party, much more so today when EDEK supported the election of Nikos Christodoulidis to the Presidency of the Republic".

Taking the opportunity, the President of EDEK thanked the outgoing Ministers for the work they accomplished and wished the new Ministers a positive and productive work.
